The 3ds Max London User Group meets on the first Wednesday of every month at Truckles, opposite the British Museum. Started in 2007, the group enjoys a great number of professional members from London's advertising, architectural and animation industries. We meet to discuss ideas, methods and projects in a friendly, relaxed setting.

Eyelevel & The Boundary @ 3DS London November

The last 3ds London of 2015 is this Wednesday 4th November, from 7pm at Truckles.

Neil Clark from Eyelevel Creative is going to show us their new augmented reality service and app for architectural visualisation, Eyeview. It’s pretty cool, check out the video, it allows you to see models onsite geo-located to the OS coordinate system.

Book-ending 2015 in fine style Peter Guthrie and Henry Goss will talk about the recently launched Boundary Store, their Superhouse project with Strom Architects and a new project in Miami for Renzo Piano.

Please bring some work along too!

Register at www.meetup.com/3dslondon for reminders, follow @3dslondon, Facebook or the Blog. Next meeting is probably February 2016, so make sure you come along!

Autodsek's Alex Horst and Jamie Gwilliam, Thinkbox's Mike Owen on Wednesday 7th October

Next Wednesday 7th October, from 7pm at Truckles, 3ds London welcomes back Alex Horst (Autodesk Product Specialist) and Jamie Gwilliam (Autodesk M&E UK, IE & Nordics Territory Manager).
Alex will be running through some Max 2016 features first, taking a look at Stingray integration and giving a brief overview of Shotgun. If you remember Alex's presentation a while back you'll know he has a knack for interesting workflows- I'm taking notes!
We've also got time for a presentation from 3ds London regular and Thinkbox Developer Mike Owen, with a short recap of Siggraph, IBC and new product announcements.
If you've been using Stingray, Unity or Unreal with 3ds Max please think about bringing some work along to share or get in touch to arrange a future presentation, as I mentioned last month I'd appreciate it- but of course I appreciate anyone taking the time to share any Max related work. We've had a great year for presentations so far, please help me carry this through to Christmas- get in touch! 3dslondon@gmail.com, register at www.meetup.com/3dslondon for reminders, follow @3dslondon, Facebook or the Blog.
See you there, Simon

Assembly Studios @ 3dsLondon, 7pm, Wednesday 2nd September at Truckles opposite the British Museum

Hello 3ds London gang,
I hope you've all had a great summer! After a break September sees us diving straight back into the sort of high-end presentation that makes 3ds London your favourite free, 3ds Max-related, pub-based networking goldmine. The weather's turned, but don't worry, we're snug in Truckles basement... You never know, it might be sunny?
Jon Wells, Partner at Assembly Studios, says it best:

ASSEMBLY STUDIOS  CREATE VISUAL STORIES AND ENGAGING MATERIAL THAT CONNECT BRANDS WITH EXPERIENCES.

Strategy is at the heart of our production process. By bringing creative minds together with production specialists we generate innovative new solutions that cross the boundaries of various traditional media.

We work across:

DESIGN, DIGITAL, IMAGE & MOTION

I'll then pass over to 2 of our CG artists who will be presenting a little bit about our production process by focusing on a couple of recent images and going through our work flow.

I'm not quite sure how they've got away with not presenting at 3ds London before now, but I'm thrilled to kick off the second half of 2015 with a such a strong offering. Of course, in addition, you get to catch up with your peers, gossip, coerce them into sharing hard-earned tips and buy them a drink.

THIS IS THE LAST EMAIL NOTIFICATION!

See you there, 7pm sharp please, Simon

INK at 3ds London Wed 1st July

3ds London is next Wednesday 1st July, from 7pm downstairs at Truckles. The talented team at INK are coming along to present- David Macey and Mike Haas will be talking some of INK’s latest films, recently produced for Land Rover. David and Mike will talk about INK’s digital film making process, in particular how they’ve gone about integrating Nuke Studio into their 3DS Max pipeline. Then James Ball will then chat briefly about INK’s visual language and approach to creating CGI still images – in both their architectural and advertising work.

I’d like to get started on time so there’s enough of the evening to enjoy the courtyard outside afterwards, the weather forecasts suggest it’s going to be a scorcher (subject to usual disclaimers because… London). See you there!

We’re getting closer and closer to winding up the email list in favour of  www.meetup.com/3DSLondon/ so please make sure you register for free. Also check www.3dslondon.co.uk, www.facebook.com/3dslondon, the LinkedIn group or follow @3dslondon for updates.

Kind regards, Simon

3ds Max Development Team next Wednesday 3rd June

The 3ds Max development team are jetting in from across the globe for a pint downstairs at Truckles next Wednesday 3rd June from 7pm sharp (actually I don’t think we’re the only reason they’re coming over but that sounds good). Eddie Perlberg, 3ds Max Product Manager, Neil Hazzard, Principal Engineer Rendering, Alex Horst, Product Specialist, and Jamie Gwilliam, Territory Sales Manager UK, I & N, are all coming along to take us through some of the highlights of the 2016 product release, the strongest in some time I think you’ll agree. Eddie’s also going to talk about the development process for Max, what the team are working on and (with the usual caveats I’m sure) what you might expect to see in future releases.

I’m very happy they’ve all agreed to come along to 3ds London again, it’s always great to hear what’s going on and a brilliant opportunity for you to talk to them. I don’t have any other speakers lined up for the evening but I’d be very grateful if you brought some work along to share at the beginning of the evening too- I’m sure the team will enjoy seeing what 3ds London members can achieve with Max. So to reiterate, I’d be very grateful if you brought some work along to share at the beginning of the evening too (i.e. your end of the bargain).

Have you signed up on our meetup page for 3dslondon that Sol set up last month yet? This will soon become the primary channel of communication for the group, so make sure you do!

Check www.3dslondon.co.uk, www.facebook.com/3dslondon, the LinkedIn group or follow @3dslondon for updates.
